I'm 21 and still qualify as a dependent on my parent's A2 visa. I've been here for a little over 14 years, went to school and graduated from a US Public School. I now want to become a US Citizen. Does anyone have any idea of how I can do this?

  1. I don't think you can.  You need to talk to a lawyer about getting a non-immigrant work visa first.

  2. A Diplomatic visa doesn't grant you to become a US Citizen. If one of your parents is a US citizen they can petition for you or if you have a fiance.

You may also try a labor certification. You must first become a US Resident before becoming a US Citizen.

    Good Luck!

  3. As A2 even if you were born in US, you cannot be US Citizen, because of diplomacy status that you have. You have to obtain permanent resident status first through either family or employment like others. Maintain your PR status for 5 years then you are eligible for US Citizen.
