How can I become a resident of California?

This is NOT in order to get the resident tuition of which it says that I have to live in California for 1 year and 1 day. But this is for purposes like voting in California, getting a California ID, and Medi-Cal of which it says I have to be a resident of Cali (but it doesn't say the requirements). My permanent address will be a Californian address and I have the intent to become a resident of California, because as soon as I move there, I will be putting the address as my permanent address. Thanks :D

  1. I believe that you have to have a permanent place of residence for 6 months, not a year!

  2. For those things, all you have to do is live here and you are a resident.  Presto!

  3. You are a resident of CA as soon as you live there and intend to stay there as your permanent home. You can apply for a CA ID as soon as you have a residence in CA. You don't even need proof of residence, because they will mail your ID to the address you give them. You can also register to vote and apply for Medi-Cal as soon as you have your ID.

  4. when I first moved to CA, it turns out I was approached by a voter registration person on the 6th day.

I was told that was sufficiently long to both register to vote. There is generally a deadline about a month before an election to vote.

So if you want to vote here in November, better plan to be here by ab out mid-September, and don't trust me on the specific date - it is up to you to find that out.

You need to transfer your drivers license within 30 days aftger you move here.

As for the others, I can't say, but my guess is at least a month, and maybe as much as a year.

  5. All you have to do is have a physical address, and then you are a resident.  Just go to the DMV and get your Driver's license or ID and fill out the paperwork and you should probably also be able to register to vote at the same time, but I'm not sure because I live in a different state.

  6. Go to the Dmv and register your vehicles, get your drivers license and register to vote, you are a resident.~
