How can I become better at quick thinking in conversations, day to day socialising etc...?

I'm always so nervous, I just mumble, stutter and can never think what to say to people quick enough. I can't speak to girls because the conversation is just so awkard. I just can't relax, especially around supervisors, boss's and pretty girls! I'm just fed up of making a nob out myself!

  1. Just stop thinking of what to say. It takes you away from the conversation, and when it is your time to speak, you will find out that you haven't been listening. Sounds familiar? Just listen, don't talk so much, respond to what they say, or take a line from what they say to talk about or ask about. It is that easy.

  2. Well, there's practicing, probably the only way to get better. Always speak clearly and confidently, with everyone. It'll be hard and you won't get it right every time, but it helps. I end up having to think 'don't say anything stupid, think before you speak, don't repeat yourself.' Once you can stop mumbling, it'll  be easier to speak.

Just what to say, don't say a girl is pretty, instead ask her questions about herself. Girls love that, and it'll give you a break because they'll be talking instead of you. If she asks you about yourself, you can probably answer pretty easily.

Supervisors have been in your shoes before. If I'm in the supervisor's office, that's a pretty stressful time, but if it's anywhere else, should be able to talk with them. They're people too, have hobbies and interests outside of work. Probably okay to make friends with, most supervisors are people people.

I hope I helped and made sense, too!
