Question:

How can I become both a good sprinter and long distance runner? (if even possible)?

You see I'm into martial arts and Parkour and have been trying to put together a work out routine. One thing that has bothered me though is whether I have to choose between being a good long distance runner or sprinter so in other words developing either my fast twitch or slow twitch muscles. If it is possible is there a way to develop both? I know Bruce Lee would switch off between bursts of sprinting and running when he ran. Perhaps that is one way? Anyways is there any way I can do so or am I going to have to choose?

Thanks

  1. to get good at both  i would start by doing some endurance training mixed with interval sprints     after this i would get in the gym and do squats

  2. is this ammad?

  3. if your trying to be good at sprinting and long distance your really only ever to get so far with both of them.  you can't do them both to the best of your ability.  i've noticed this first hand from running cross-country and then changing to sprinting in track, your sprint won't be as fast :( but if you just focus on one then you can get that one really good and just make the other one decent at least! hope this helped

  4. run 400s theyre good no matter what
