Question:

How can I become more articulate?

I feel like my speech isn't as clear and understandable as I'd like. Sometimes I can't think of the right words to say how to describe things. This can be very frustrating. I'm 13 years old, and when I speak, I want to have a clear, well-spoken voice. How can I achieve this? Any advice?

  1. Your best bet is to read more.  Studies have shown that readers are more articulate in both written and spoken language.  So go grab a book and when you're done, grab another.

  2. You might want to take up a public speaking class.  They will teach you to speak clearly and you will become more articulate.  To improve your vocabulary I suggest reading whatever you can get your hands on.

  3. Like others have suggested you should try and read as much as you can. This can be time consuming though, so I think another good idea would be to go to www.dictionary.com and sign up for the word of the day. They'll send you a new word by e-mail everyday and this can help expand your vocabulary and help you become more articulate.
