Question:

How can I become more creative?

I love to write; it's a passion of mine. But I am not creative at all and I can't come up with stories to write about. I've tried things such as listening to music, watching movies, and going for walks to try to get inspiration, but nothing comes to me. I want to be a writer, but I can't be one if I can't think of any stories. How can I become creative and think of ideas? Is there anything that helps you think of things to write about? Thanks for your help!

  1. I used to get that, and I know it sounds weird, but creativity is something you have to sort of, unlock? When you see people walking down the street, think about who they are, where they might be going and why. You can make it up and be as outregeous as you like - that odd woman down the avenue could be a crazy witch.

    i like this site: www.wakeupwriting.com

it gives you like a prompt every day

and if you go on the writer's digest website they have some pretty good ones

and if you know what sort of theme you want your story to be, do some clustering. You put your word in the middle, e.g.history, then circle it and draw a line to the first word you think of, circle that and go on.

Try to get into the habit of making up stories about everything around you, just don't tell people that you think the salt and pepper shaker aren't talking because the pepper had an affair.

    good luck. :) x

  2. okay... heres the first thing... whether u wanna write or paint.... being creative means u have to be free... so take ur time to enjoy bringing up ideas... secondly.. confidence in your work... keep in mind that you are not supposed to gauge your work with other peoples work..... finally whether it is a good or bad just put it... practice takes time.. the more u put the better you are... :) hope it helps.. most importantly dun feel pressurized.. be your self

  3. I am a writer - what happens is that we allow everything in the way of our writing. When you wake up lay in bed for 2 or 3 minutes and try and clear your head. Get a journal and write in it - just anything that comes to your mind....let it flow and you will be surprised how well you will write. To be a good writer you must do it everyday....

  4. Keep a notebook with you at all times, and write down anything that gets your attention, even one word. Look up how to brainstorm and try that. Get books like " A Whack on the Side of the Head". Don't try too hard, and don't criticize your ideas right away.

  5. Try fanfiction for a bit. Whenever I read a good book, I can't help but put the characters in different situations, or change a bit here and there, or put them in a totally different settings and see how they do. You can even post some at

    http://www.fanfiction.net/

if you become a member (completely free) and you'll get reviews.  After doing some, you'll probably have some plotbunnies bouncing around your head (any writing gets you warmed up, the more you write the more ideas you get) and you can start making up your own characters and settings.

You can post your original work at

    http://www.writerscafe.org/writing/

again, completely free, and sometimes just reading the descriptions for a contest will start an idea.

Also think of anything and challenge yourself to make a story out of it. A "prompt" if you will. Anything will do, "Apples are vicious killers" there, now make a story out of it :D

    Happy writing
