Obviously Flexibility is needed when learning Capoeira Fighting, and I want to take Capoeira Fighting Lessons by next summer, How can I become flexible in 1 year? Is there anyway to become Flexible in less time??? And would Forcing my body to become flexible be dangerous?? (like having someone push you down while attempting to do the splits so that your legs are forced to split apart. - i know this hurts like h**l cause it happened to me once by mistake, but i was thinking i could do it when i was blazed so that it wouldnt hurt as much.)

P.S. I'm not flexible at all, i cant get even close to doing "The Splits".

  1.    Forcing can be dangerous. So, I don't really recommend it. Stretching at least 3 times a day could help. Also, warming up is real important so it could reduce the risk of injury. Hold a stretch for about 10-more seconds.

  2. Before you attempt to do splits or doing splitting exercises or in general stretching. You have to have a good run to warm up your muscles. Doing stretches while the muscles are cold is dangerous and you will get injured. Unless your a girl, you wont get there to splits at a fast rate. The most I've heard somebody achieve a split was a month, but it was pure dedication doing em everyday. Just do what you do, but dont forget to warm up you muscles with a good jog or run. You'll know the difference when you dont.

  3. well just start with some easy stretchech for a start then go on advanced exercises. that will hep you. and for speed just start of doing stuff slowly and exercise. dont worry, if you train hard enough and keep it up it will all come bro

    good luck

  4. Stretch, thats all i can say to get you more flexible. If you do straddle stretches and toe touches those work really well. I wasn't flexible till i started doing stretches like that. Also try stretching machines, those work well too.

  5. you hav to stretch at least twice a day every single day. you are just going to have to try to do your splits a little at a time. i know its painful, i had to get my splits back for taekwondo after i quit gymnastics one and a half years years ago. it was painful. good luck.

  6. Don't force it, seriously, that's very dangerous! You could damage your tendons, ligaments, muscles permanently, then you would be out of any sports for ever. I don't do martial arts, but other sports, my fitness coach always says stretch is good as long as you don't feel the pain.

Some things take time, everyone's different, some people are born more flexible than others, flexibility can be improved through training, but not ruthless trying out, go to find a fitness instructor. You mustn't do it just because you think you can. One wrong movement can cause serious injuries!!!

    Please be careful!!!

Sorry that I can't help you more on this. There must be someone who can.

    Best of luck!

  7. Hi!

Look up PNF ( Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation ) Stretching.

It is a system of stretching that uses correct theories based on science.
