How can I better organize my closet?

My bedroom closet is pretty small, but needs to hold a lot of stuff. Currently, there is a built-in plaster shelf and two staggered rods that run from front to back, leaving about 3 feet of open space below my hanging clothes. On one rod I hang my tops, and on the other- from back to front- are my prom dresses, a narrow hanging shoe organizer, and my pants. Beneath my tops on the right side of my closet, I store out-of-season clothing in two plastic totes. Hanging on the inside of my closet door is a mesh organizer which holds all of my hair products and lotions and tools.

I don't know how else I can organzie my closet to both fit everything and look neat. All suggestions will be appreciated!

  1. Take a picture of your closet with all of the clothes out of the closet-set up the square space on graft paper-to scale-and assess how much actual space you have to work with.

While the closet is empapply a fresh coat of paint to the walls and the shelves-a white or a neutral colour will creat the illusion of more space.

  2. well first sale ur prom dresses unless u go to a lot of proms thencontact home shopping network and order some huggable hangers they will increase ur hanging space by 50% in your closet and ur will not fall off of them they r worth the price u pay for them and for other things get the containers and store ur out of season clothes under ur bed.
