How can I block my phone number display to viewers?

What's the #code I have to dial on my house phone,before making a call,so the other user can't see displayed my number.

I"d liketo know also if this can be performed on my cell phone

and what's the # code to enter before making a call,does it cost or is for free,or service required with provider?

*67. It depends on what package you have with your phone service provider.

Before you dial a number press *67 (works on most landlines as well as cell phone providers) now, if you want to know if it worked..when you press *67 (on landline) you should hear a 3 brief tones then continue to dial the rest of the number, on the other persons caller id it will display blocked call - on a cell phone you will not hear the tones so try it by dialing *67 and calling yourself on your landline if you have caller id..

Keep in mind people will know you deliberately blocked your number because when you use *67 on the caller id it will say Blocked call, if you had your number private or unlisted it would show up private number or restricted caller
