Question:

How can I breed guppies?

I currently have a 5 gallon tank, and two 2 gallons.

I have no objection to buying another tank but is there a way I could breed guppies with my current tanks? There is nothing in the 2 gallons at the moment.

And I would like to know the best way to do this as well.

Right now I have 2 males in my 5 gallon. And I want to add a female?

  1. Trust me, if you add male and female guppies together, they will breed. I have a 10 gallon tank with mainly guppies and a few other types of fish, but it seems like everyday I go down and feed them, there's just more and more! I find little guppies swimming around all the time...so I would just go for it :) !

  2. you could probably just put some male and female ones in the two gallon and raise them in there, if you want to keep the fry remove the parents once they've been born

  3. ok, I am guessing you want to start a strain of guppies? Well you will need another 5 gallon and a 10 gallon with a divider. the 2 gallon is useless unless you want to move the 2 males in there. I am guessing the 2 males are from a pet store. Once again, they can not be used, there genetics are all over the place. So you need 2 more 5 gallon tanks. I hope this helps, also. It is best to start with 1 line of guppies until you get better at it and then you can buy more tanks for more strains of guppies.

    Good luck!
