  1. 4 gig ram - 800mhz

    cheap box

two equal size hard drives - raid0

    decent power supply  - 600 watts +

    crossfire motherboard

**the best video card you can afford**

*the best cpu you can afford* - for older games - dual core: for new release games coming out in future - quad core

    avoid nvidia video cards

Spend the bulk of your budget on the cpu and video card, particularly the video card. This is where your gaming performance will come from.

You should be able to build a very good single card gaming box for $800 and if you get a dual slot (crossfire) motherboard, have scope to add an additional grpahics card later on when you need more grunt.

  2. 800 dollars is pretty tight for a gaming pc.  I'd suggest buying all the parts separate on ebay or maybe a computer store like newegg.com

  3. Building a PC is not that hard... if you know what you are doing, the instructions are not so hard to fallow and one website I can recommend is http://www.tomshardware.com/

plus I'm sure if you google "build your own pc" you will find more info...
