  1. wired intercom! you need talk battery (about a -10vdc) and a ringing voltage (about 90vac at 20hz). you can get all this from an old 1A2 power supply. Connect you phones together in a loop with the power supply. Use a small SPST push switch to cause the ringing voltage to start.

it would be far simpler to use radio or even a modern wireless phone system that has intercom.

the only place I've seen the wired intercom is cave rescue.

  2. Nope.

You need additional equipment - namely an FXS and FXO device/module.  You need a "computer" in between to provide dial tone, and ring the phone.

It's actually pretty expensive equipment to pull it off.

You may want to look around to see if you can pick up an old, no longer used, "key system". Some businesses will throw them away because resale value can be too low to be worth the hassle of trying to find a buyer.

  3. Why would you want too?

Pop into Argus, and pick up El cheapo twin cordless handset or 2 way radio, will work better than a diy solution, and probably cost less too.

    Hope this helps?

  4. All you need is a Telephone Line simulator similar to that in that link but it should be cheaper if you will buy a small size PABX.

If you want to build, search for a speech network kit, DMTF receiver, DTMF/PULSE dialer and telephone ringer circuits.
