How can I build a school in India?

I am looking to build a primary school in rural india...i am sure the fundraising part of this process will be taken care of well. However, how can i actually do this? I am not really sure what steps need to be taken. Which organizations should I contact? Or is it better to do it direct? I have family in India who i am sure would be more than willing to help in the process, because I am in the US, Any comments would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

I was part of a group that built a school in India through Free the Children.  They have built hundreds, have the connections and know-how on the ground, and we sent the money.  If memory serves me, it was about $5500 for the whole thing.  Their website is http://www.freethechildren.com
