How can I build an R/c helicopter from scratch?

I do not want to buy a kit, but want to make one out of commonly available materials.Is there a guide somewhere that explains the background knowledge(avionics, gears , type of propellers and so on) that are required?And how do I make a remote control?Please give me a simple guide because this is my first time.

mabe u should check out your local hobby shop that deals with r/c's. you are actually gonna spend more money trying to build one from scratch than buliding a kit. it is also very dificult trying to bulit from scratch and generally does not turn out the way u wanted it to. so heres a good site to search prices on r/c helecopters. http://www.towerhobbies.com/index.html

just type in r/c helicopter in searh bar and it will show u the products avalible with prices. be prepared to spend money because this is quality stuff and its built to last if treated properly

some ofthis kits will require assembly and batteries, transmitters, recivers, motors, chargers, blades, servos etc. so do your research if u want to get into the r/c helicopter hobby

Not entirely sure, but I did see a guy on monster quest that built his own rc helicopters and used a remote to control them. Try how stuff works website. I've included some links one that could help with the function and building and another for the site that gives the show I saw (maybe you can catch the guys name).
