Question:

How can I build endurance?

I can sprint. And I can run fast for a short distance, but I tire out easily. How can I build my endurance so I can run longer?

  1. a great way to build endurance for track is to join cross country in the fall. it really helps build endurance so you can run fast for longer periods of time. seriously consider this!

  2. oh definitely. run cross country in the fall. you bond a lot with your distance kids cause it's a smaller team than track & its REALLY fun to yell & cheer each other on.

    other wise, i would just start running 3 miles a day, and increase by a mile each, every week. you wont even notice a differnce (:

  3. Yes run. When you sprint, sprint a little further each time, keep pushing yourself a little farther. If you do 3 sets, increase to 4 sets, etc. Some forget to breathe. Good luck. I am old now but although I never was a great runner I could sprint a great distance after a 10 mile run.

  4. I have been running for 8 years now and would recommend the following:

    I would strengthen the core: calves, quads, hams, back and abdominal (the "six pack" muscles along with the obleks), chest and arms. But when strengthening these muscles, I would focus more on the muscle endurance not the muscle bulk. For more advice for this, I would consult with a personal trainer. For the running part, I would stay flexible as it helps/contributes to your balance (so do the muscles in your core) but also helps prevent some injuries like pulled muscles and shin splints. Also, I would try to make up a schedule where you can run for X amount of days and try to have a long run. I would start off slowly, running about 2-3 miles per run for the first week and increase my mileage per week. Make sure you have the following: a good diet, hydration, sleep, a good sense on how to take care of your body, and sleep. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Good Luck!!!

Run run run run... i cant stress it enough. i was so out of shape and got tired easily. all i did was jog for about 10 min. a day and everyday i would get more and more in shape. its the best thing for endurance. oh and playing soccer helps alot too. soccer takes alot of endurance too. go to the park with friends and bring a soccer ball. it makes it more fun to get endurance:) gd luck xox

  6. definetly run. Well, not actually run, but jog. Joging is somewhat like walking, but taking little jumps. So, when your joging, put your hands up like if you were running so you dont look like an idiot walking and jumping at the same time. You can jog for 10 min. If you want endurance fast, do it up to 45 min- 1 hour two times a day. And, ofcourse, a nice protein-balanced diet;  You surely will be burning calories like crazy.

    After a month, you'll have so much endurance, you can run a marathon!

  7. practice long distance. If u run long distance and u don't stop, then u won't be tired when u sprint. Just go out and practice!
