How can I burn a piece of paper without burning my house down?

Any tips would be appreciated.

um well good question you could fill up your sink with COLD water and then lite the paper over the water when it gets close to your hand drop it in the watre or if dat to risky go in to your front yard and  wet you grass and lite the paper

Try burning it in a deep metal dish/pan. Be careful and open a window for fresh air!

just simply get a lighter & a peice of paper. as the paper catches on fire & burns almost completely then blow the fire away but i wouldn't use a BIG peice of paper. for a simply way, place the paper on grass outsite & light the paper up & then it's gone!

Burning is very extreme. wouldn't cutting it up work just as well?

Take it outside, use a grill, or metal bucket, etc.

I use a metal 55 gallon drum to burn anything 'sensitive', like unsolicited credit card applications, anything that could be used for identity theft.

If you dont own a grill, take a cake pan (use one without a teflon coating) outside, and burn the paper in it.  Keep a garden hose nearby, to douse it afterwards and clean out the pan.  Use a sprayer attachment on the hose to douse any bits of paper that try to fly away.

put it on concrete and step on it after its done burning.  this will make sure that is put out.  then throw the remains if there is any, away.  its quite simple.  i did that with my homework one time....
