I have 2 credit cards I share with my husband. I am the primary card holder and he was added to them. He has very good credit and mine is...well....so far even to be good:) My cards are close to the credit limit and I am paying only the minimum every months. It has a not really good effect on my husband credit reports and his credit score is a few points less than was last month and the month before and so on.

I'm wondering if I cancel my husband from my cards what the effect would be? Is it shows as a closed account or what? I am not closing just I don't want hurt his credit score and I really need some good advise what and how to do?

Thank you in advance!

  1. Free credit score with your credit report. Find out your credit rating and scores online. From all 3 bureaus.

  2. Contact your credit provider. If you are the primary card holder, you are authorised to make any decision you like.

Cancelling supplementary card holder does not affect anyones credit rating, non payment however does.

  3. Well, there is only one way to remove him - to call the credit card company and make the request.  His credit will not suffer much, as he is only an authorized user.
