How can I carry a bike on a bike?

In light of outrageous gas prices I am buying a tandem bike for my daughter and I to ride together. She is blind so this is the only safe way for us to cycle together. The ultimate plan is for us to ride to the babysitter's together on the tandem bike then for me to ride to work solo. At work I have to carry my bike up two flights of stairs to lock it up. So, riding the tandem by myself is not really an option. Is there a bike rack for a bike or something like that?

Yep, PelMel has the idea.

You can get Trail-a-Bikes in different sizes. They attach (and detach) easily to most bikes. Go to http://bicycletrailers.com to see what is available.

EDIT: With all due respect- you have the money to buy a tandem but can't afford a $300 Trail-a-Bike? You should be able to easily find a Trail-a-Bike with a 24" wheel. If not, I think there is an attachment that makes a regular bike into one by removing the fork and installing some kind of adapter... hmm... if you can't find one let me know and maybe I could make one for you.

Great idea! Depending on the age/weight of your daughter, you may want to think about getting a trail-a-bike, which is a child-size seat and wheel that attaches behind a regular adult bicycle. It is easy to attach and remove, so you could leave it at the sitter's and finish your ride without it. Trail-a-bikes are easy to find used--we've had one being passed around the neighborhood for several years.

Also, there are folding bicycles that you could possibly fold and carry. Or maybe work out an arrangement with the sitter to park the tandem at the sitter's during the day, and leave a regular bike over night. That way you could switch at the sitter's on your way to work and then home again. Good luck!

yes there is a bike rack to carry tamdon  but i do not know if there is a bike on a bike
