Question:

How can I change an airline ticket without huge fees?

I booked a ticket for my friend bc he's coming with me as I move from San Diego to Dallas. I'm driving there, he's gonna kick it with me there and then catch a one way flight back. I booked the flight for him on US Airways, except I booked it for the wrong day. I booked it a week later than when he was supposed to return. I called yesterday and they said I have to pay a $150 fee PLUS the difference (bout $50) so $200 total just to change a ticket. Has anyone successfully done this without having to pay such outrageous fees? I am more than willing to lie... :-)

  1. If you purchased a 'non-refundable' ticket (most are), you are stuck.  When you bought the ticket, you agreed to US Air's fees and conditions.

You might, by talking nicely, get them to drop the change fee by $50 or so, that's the most I have ever seen successfully.
