Question:

How can I change back to My Yahoo Classic View? (NOT Just Mail)?

If this new view is required I may need to find a new site. The font is hard to read because it is thin and the "New" colors make for poor contrast. The information on the side colmuns is less important than the info in the middle column that is why the middle WAS twice as large as the sides...now the static information like weather, Sports scores, and stock prices are the same size and limiting how big the REAL info in the middle is shown. I can't read it swiftly.

I was fine with the original view for Many Many Years...why change to change. why FORCE me to change when there is no need? I am sure some Marketing genius at Yahoo came up with this and they can make 0.0004 cents per view from the new format but where is the value for me?

How can I switch back...Help!

  1. yahoo have changed everyone to their new home page by stealth, your old home page is now not recognised by the server so your wasting your time trying to get it back again, it like a new marriage, we are stuck with it for better or worse

  2. I'm in complete agreement with all of the above. The new Yahoo sucks, and I'm going to find another home page. What a bunch of morons!

  3. It seems that Yahoo has decided it doesn't need to listen to its users, because not only can you no longer switch back to the original My Yahoo, there is not even a way to properly contact Yahoo about the many, many problems with the 'New' My Yahoo.  A quick look at the Answers section for My Yahoo will tell anyone that users DO NOT like this new My Yahoo, but nobody seems to care.  Personally, I'm going to have to find another service for my homepage, because this 'new' page doesn't work at all.  Not only is everything huge and spread out on a huge page full of blank space, but the modules are on top of each other, the text is mostly illegible, and the only link on the whole page that works is the "Help" link, which only takes you to the FAQ page.  Sad, really, because I have been loyal to Yahoo since 1998.  Hate to leave, but they're not giving me an option.

  4. I have to agree with the first posters answer   i dont think we can do anything about it

  5. Unfortunately you can't switch back. The link has been deactivated. The consensus is that the new format SUX! Yahoo! received tons of feedback saying as much but like the new yahoo! mail it was decided that if you shove it down their throats they will swallow. SWome users have decided to spit it back & sell stock & cancell their accounts. Hopefully we'll see the switch back link reactivated but I won't hold my breath.

Yahoo!'s press release stated it believed this new version allows for:

-Custom-designed modules with more of great content from select publishers (such as New York Times, People, Wall Street Journal, etc.)

-New and improved Yahoo! modules, including Top Picks from Your Page, Flickr, Note to Self, To Do List, Movie Showtimes, Scoreboard, Stock Portfolios, TV Listings, Calendar, Yahoo! Buzz, etc.

-New modules that provide access to third-party services (i.e., Netflix, Gmail, POP mail, Facebook)

-New header with easier customization tools for adding content and choosing options, as well as tabbed browsing for multiple pages

-More control, with additional page layout options, a less intrusive advertising approach, and easy drag-and-drop functionality

...basically nothing users asked for. But Yahoo! believes the new version will "deliver open, industry-leading platforms that attract the most publishers and developers."

    UGH I HATE IT!!!!

  6. Why do they force us to have this vile new format?

What a marketing disaster to force people to have something against their wishes. I have used My Yahoo for almost 10 years to check stock prices but as of this morning I am off to Google Finance.

  7. Gee, Yahoo turns down Microsoft's offer... Again. Then they slam all their members with an irreversible "new" my yahoo.

Don't they remember the c**p the phone companies took when they were slamming customers and the mess Coke made of things when their "highly rated" new formula bombed? Yahoo can't afford to anger anyone these days. Come to think of it... Sounds like a good time to short YHOO stock. Their going down.

After years as a dedicated yahoo user, I'm gone!

  8. Go to the help pages. At the bottom is a feedback link. Flood them with complaints. Tell them if they want to keep you they need to give it back. I did and I will leave. I've had it.

    Google here I come.

  9. yahoo is simply uncooperative. all you can do is hit them where they live; maybe they'll get the idea.

here is a place where you can get a hosts file replacement and painless installer which will prevent the download and appearance of yahoo (and many others') advertising:

    http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.ht...

please tell your friends, and help many newbies.

in the end, i honestly hope that yahoo comes to it's senses, but in lieu of that, i suppose that it should be more humane to hasten their consumption by microsoft. . .

  10. It is amazing to me for someone who has been as popular as Yahoo, would just totally ignore the wishes of it's customers. I guess they think we are too stupid to know what is best for us. Sort of sounds like the government.
