I'm 16 and live in MA. I'm contesting a speeding ticket. I don't want my license suspended and wanted to know how i can go about changing my moving-violation to a non-moving violation or something of that nature so I will not lose my license because of the JOL law. Can anyone help me? the court date is 10 days away

  1. Go to court and take the fine, they might lower the fine if you go. And get a slower car, a 4cylinder or something. Smart car. With those speeding tickets I assume you have a sports car? Both tickets and the sports car will sky rocket your insurance.

I wouldn't know, I'm only 15. I'm giving you the information that I know of.

Sorry if I don't give you the right information.

    Best of luck!

  2. See a lawyer and yes - it is going to cost you (or your parents) a chunk of change.  You might can use a Court appointed but thats a bit if!  If you've changed your tires recently (before ticket) that can make your speedometer read a bit slow for awhile when you are actually going a bit faster.  Take proof to Court as in receipt from where you bought the tires.  Otherwise, there is no way to 'change your offense' unless the Judge reduces the sentence or shows leniency.  Think of it as a good object lesson, chew it up and swallow and try to remember how much it cost in time, money and inconvenience the next time you get in a hurry.

  3. Speak to an attorney. Nobody else that would know can legally help you. It's called unauthorized practice of law.
