  1. http://www.ukofficialdeedpoll.com/?gclid...

  2. you will need your ex partners permission to change it by deedpoll.

  3. If he's under a year old, his birth certificate can still be amended although you may need the fathers permission. Simply go back to the registry office to do this.

If he's over one, you'd need to get a solicitor (which you need with or without his fathers consent) to do this officially. It will cost around £35 for the name change.

  4. you can only do it if father agree's.. why do you want to change it , hope ts not a spyte thing. If you change it by deed poll you still need permission as the child changes it when 18 im not sure you can even do it by deed poll.

when child goes to school you can give school childs name but tell them he is known as _____ . you dont want to confuse child though and hope you change it for the right reasons.

  5. You would need to go through the court system.

  6. You can use your surname straightaway for him, its only if you need legal documents and proof of id that you need to change by deedpoll, so as long as you dont need documents to proove it, your name is ok to use.

  7. The first answer by Ruby is correct....deed poll. Anyone can change their name first name surname etc via deed poll.

FYI: When my daughter was born, we decided for her to have my surname as when my fiancee and i get married he is changing his surname (to be done via deed poll)...long story!!

    Good luck lol xx

  8. No, since you have his father's name on the birth certificate you can only change it through the courts if he agrees.

  9. Hi if your son dont have any contact with his dad you dont need his permission, you still need to go to a solicitor though and it will cost 40 pound. Hope this helps xx

  10. You have to apply to have his name legally changed. There are costs involved and a bit of paperwork.  Im not too sure on all the details but maybe ask this in the legal section.
