How can I change new PCs default paper setting from US letter to A4?

Every programme I open defaults to US letter size which is irrelevant here in the UK and I need it to be set as A4 as it causes alot of problems when printing.

  1. You need to set the paper size to A4 in whatever program you are using like Word.  You will usually find it under File->Print and click on the arrow at the side where the paper sizes are listed and select A4 instead of what it is set to now.  If there is an Apply button in the program you are using then click on it and then click on OK.  This will set it to A4 so you won't have to go back every time and change it.


  2. Go to Printers and Faxes and right click on your printer. Then select Printer Settings. Under Page Size select A4. Click Apply.

  3. Change the default settings in the page set up of whatever programs you use but also make sure that your printer setup is also set to A4.

  4. It's in the settings for your printer, or the global document settings for your application - for example, with Microsoft Office, it's in the program suite defaults settings.
