How can I change the alternator belt on a rover 420 diesel?

I want to change the tensioner polly that is siezed too.how?

give me a clue, any ideas please.

i suggest you buy or borrow a haynes manual for this job

What you need to do is look at the top of the alternator, there are two bolts that hold the alternator tight. Loosen them first, then there there is a long tentioning bolt under the alternator. Loosen this and then you can remove the belt.
