1. I'm not sure if you are confused about Photoshop or referring to different versions so I'll give some details that you may already know to make sure that we're "on the same page." :-D

Photoshop isn't a type of program, it's the name of a particular program that Adobe makes. Like all programs, they have updated it from time to time, giving us different versions. Normally, where to find commands and features isn't much different between different versions.

I use Paint or Irfanview, depending on what I'm doing and they are both quite adequate for my needs, but admittedly, I don't do a lot of image work. Irfanview, though, is quite well regarded and is free as well. (Gimp is also free.)

How to change the background of a picture to one colour depends on whether you are referring to an existing picture or starting a new picture. Dead easy with a new picture, trickier with an existing one.

With an existing picture, it's not ususual for the background to be made up of more than one colour and only look like it's all the same colour. This can mean it's a very slow process of going through and changing each pixel (square of colour) to your chosen colour. Yes, I believe there are ways of making it quicker, but as I said before, I don't do much image work. If this is what you need to know, post a new question and make it clear and you'll get answers from people who know a lot more than me about this.

For a new picture, we'll consider Paint and Irfanview.

In Paint, normally it opens with a white background. In the unlikely event that it didn't, it would be as simple as left-clicking on the white colour in the colour selection box and then click the paint can icon in the toolbar up the side. Finally, left click in the picture area.

    In Irfanview, start Irfanview.

Click on Options in the toolbar across the top and then Properties.

    Click the Viewing tab.

At the bottom of the page it says "Main window colour" and has a Choose button next to it.

This brings up a box with some preset colours, including white, and the option to mix red, green and blue to get the colour you want.

Okay your way back out of the options.

The version of Irfanview that I was using to work through the instructions is 3.99 but I don't think that has changed in all the time I have been using the program.

Hope that answers your question. :-)

  2. the only real answer your gonna get is photoshop it. If you don't wanna spend the money theres an open source photoshop like program called gimp you could try.
