How can I check if there is a fault with a cell phone and a home phone in winnipeg?

I am trying to call a home phone and cell phone in winnipeg but keep getting told to check the numbers, I know they are the correct numbers as I have called them numerous times before. I called mts for the cell but all they said was they couldnt tell me anything about the service as I wasnt the account holder. I only want to know if there is a fault? why is this priviledged info ?

what you have to do is go to a house phone that is on mts or a mts pay phone and dial 611( it is free on any mts pay phone) for the repair department.  or you can call 225-5687 from any phone in Manitoba.  Hope it helps
