Like say a picture of a celebrity or anything at all?

  1. Unless you know the creator of an image, it's almost impossible to determine for sure if an image is still copyright.   However, since the creator of an images enjoys copyright automatically when an image is created, you should go under the assumption an image is created.

    There is currently new legislation being pushed by some called the orphaned works that is in part about addressing this problem.

    If you see an image one someone's site you wish to use, contact that person.  If they are the copyright holder, they can give you permission (usage rights) to use that image.  Otherwise, take your own images or purchase usage rights from a stock photo company.
