How can I cite a website used in my essay?

I'm not totally sure about this, but I know when you cite a book in an essay, it would look something like this: "bla bla bla bla..." (Dahl 34)

the quote used coming first and the author of the book you used along with the page number of the quote in brackets (then the information to go in your works cited page). Are you supposed to cite websites in this same way? If I used a quote or info from a webpage how would I cite it in the text of the essay?

another small question? should I cite where I got infomation like statistics? (for example, specs and max speed and whatnot, of a car)

  1. I believe if you are citing a website, you put the name of the author of the website and then "online" like so: (Cavazzi Online)

I would suggest citing statistics, since it's most likely not "first hand" or "common knowledge"

    hope that helped

  2. a great site located here... http://www.easybib.com/

  3. MLA

    http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resour...

    APA

    http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resour...

That give you a layout of what you need depending on what style you have to use

If your using statistics always cite always always
