How can I clean Rust?

Question

I found my dad's old highchair from when he was a baby, and I would like to keep it, but is their anyway i can clean rust off of metal? Its old so I didnt know if their was anything I can do... Help please!

do you plan on painting it afterwards or is it pure metal? i have taken off rust just by sanding it or using plain old aluminum foil. believe it or not but use a little bit of coca cola and some bundled up aluminum foil as a scrub. this is only if its not to deep. if your going to paint it they have a substance (its like glue) you put on rust and it turns it into primer (what you put on things before you paint them) they sell it at any hardware store/home depot... check it out.

Rub off as much rust as you can with a green kitchen scrubber.  Pour Coca Cola over the metal and then dry and apply Navel Jelly.  That should do the trick.

Vinegar and lemon juice (either separately or together) are pretty effective at removing rust.  Tomato juice, while not as good, also works.  You could also try Mr. Clean Magic Erasers.
