I'm reading the book "Flowers For Algernon" because it's on my summer reading list, but I can't concentrate on it, when he brings up all of the sad things that happened in his childhood, it brings up the memories of last summer when my mom was abusive to to me, and then I just start crying, school starts on september 2 and I have only read a little over 1/3 of the book, oh and I'm 15 btw

  1. You just need to detach yourself from the situation. Read with maybe some music playing in the background or as soon as you catch yourself thinking about it go back to the book and keep reading.

I know it may seem hard to do but finishing the book will help you coop with some of the things you have been going through

  2. First find somewhere that you feel comfortable but not too much where you want to sleep and just read and when you get to the part that it sad think of it as your just one step closer to understanding the book because you've felt sadness too and dont try to dwell on your sadness but the character's.
