How can I configure a high-rising toilet to a low-rising, to conserve water?

My toilet in my new home is currently a high-rising toilet which means it uses a lot of water to flush. I used to live in an apartment with a low-rising toilet which uses less water, thus conserving energy and bills. Do I need to buy a new toilet bowl or is there a way to configure this manually?

  1. Get a plastic jug that will fit in your tank without touching any of the moving parts.  Fill it with water (try to get all the air bubbles out).  Leave it in the tank.  It will take up that space and save that same amount of water on every flush.

  2. For the maximum flush with the least amount of water it would be necessary to change the complete set.

  3. Depends, if its an older toilet it requires more water to flush clean...just the way they were designed and if you take away water you will need more flushes to clear the bowl. If its a newer toilet it could possibly have a fluidmaster in it which is adjustable by positioning the float lower.

  4. first i would call your local dept of water 'n power.  they used to give devices away free for conservation.  if not, when you put something inside the tank to displace water as mentioned above, use caution.  they sometimes float/move around and restrict the movement of the parts inside the toilet.

alway remember you are altering the original design of the engineers calculations and the toilet "MAY" not flush properly.
