  1. fengirl2 is, of course, right.  But if you're nervous about your employer's honesty, I would add - make sure you keep all your pay slips to prove that your employer deducted it from you.

  2. Why would he pay your tax ??????

  3. phone up customs and ask them . and see if you can get your hands on your employer paye ref number.

  4. HMRC will not give you this info as it is private to your employer. If they have failed to pay over your tax and NIC, HMRC will go after your employer, not you, so don't worry.

  5. Phone your local tax office.

  6. Yes, tax office staff will not discuss this with you. Do you have form P60 from 2007/2008? If so, how does that compare with payslips?

Keep payslips if you are wary. You can always ask tax office to take up for you if you are suspicious. If it is proved that your employer on the fiddle, he will have to pay any shortfall, you won't be asked for the money, as long as you have proof of what deductions made (eg payslips). Payslips are not legal documents for any repayment to be made to you, but they are useful where HMRC has to investigate employer. Although Revenue won't discuss outcome with you, likewise they won't reveal to employer that you have made complaint.

In these circumstances, should any refund found at a later date to be due to you, it will not be made if you have not suffered the deductions.
