How can I connect a laptop to a flatscreen tv and have audio?

I am trying to hook up a Toshiba to a Sanyo TV. I know a VGA cable can give me the picture, but does that cord also transmit audio from the laptop? Where can I purchase the right cord for both functions?

The VGA cord will not transmit audio. In order to get audio you need a cord that goes from 1/8 inch(headphone jack) to RCA (red and white stereo plugs on your tv). Sometimes you can buy cables that have VGA and this converter cable basically glued together.  But you could just buy the 2 cords separately, either way it will work
