I'm trying to connect my Dell Altec Lansing LucasFilm THX Surround-Sound computer speaker system to my Toshiba Regza LCD/HDTV? On the back of the sub-woofer are 5 plug-in holes to put the center, the left rear and front, and the right rear and front speakers. There is only one other plug in on the sub-woofer, and it says "Diag out". Nothing I have tried works. They work great with the computer, but I'd like to be able to hook them up to my TV. Please help.

  1. The TV is not meant to drive the speakers directly, you need an amplifier.  A "Home Theater" receiver usually used in this case.  That TV also has an Optical Output.  If you get a HT receiver with optical inputs, you can use that to connect the TV to the receiver and then the receiver will drive the speakers.

  2. I'm far from an expert, but it seems to me that your tv set would have to have an audio out connect just like the one you have on your computer that the speakers plug in to.  It sounds like your speakers are decently high end as well so you would probably want a Digital Audio out on the tv.   It might help others help answer you if you list the name and model number of your tv set so we can look up the specs for it.  You may even have to get an A/V receiver that your speakers would plug into and then that in turn would plug into the tv.  I've only dealt with surround sound systems on tv sets that have receivers.
