How can I connect to the internet from my laptop?

I'm using it inside of my house, but it says I need an ISP username and password and i don't know if I have one, We have comcast and my laptop is a dell inspiron 1525.

do you have comcast internet access/broadband? if not, no can do.

if you do have access, if you have a cable modem, simply hook it up and try to open any website. A Comcast site will appear where you can download their installation CD software and you can do the installation yourself. If you don’t have a cable modem, wait for the modem to show up before you do all of this

for access without a hardwire connection, you'll need a wireless router.

but ya gotta have the Comcast High-Speed Internet first...
