How can I convert HDMI to composite video (or s-video or coax) for viewing on a non-hd tv?

I'm getting a new laptop, and it's got HDMI and that other hd one (can't remember the name) and I'd like to view video on some non-hd tv's... any idea how to do that???

  1. Your laptop screen will probably be better than a non-hd tv, unless the tv is bigger.

  3. You can buy converter/scalers to do this but they are a little expensive. The reason why is that the converter has to take the digital signal and convert it to an analog one. You won't be able to view HDCP protected material through it though.

    If your laptop has an SVGA output then you can use an inexpensive cable to convert VGA to component.
