I have a power point slide show for a presentation. I want to provide a handout with notes to go along with it. How do I convert the slide show into a word document without having to copy and paste each item?

  1. If you are using 2007, go under the Windows icon in the upper left corner to Publish --> Create Handouts in Microsoft Office Word.

The computer I'm on right now doesn't have XP, so I can't remember where it is, but there is something similar either under the Save As or Send or Export? Sorry.

Another possibility is to paste your notes text into the notes section of the Powerpoint document and print notes pages from there. But that's only one slide per page.

  2. This should work:  In the PowerPoint 2007 "Home" view, you will have a choice of two tabs:  "Slides" and "Outline."  Choose the "Outline" tab.  Once you have opened up the Outline, you can copy and paste the text for the entire slide show onto a Word Document.  Be careful though, this Outline view does not include any illustrations, so some of the meaning may be lost in translation.  Hope this helps!

  3. Hi,

You don't really have to use Microsoft Word at all to accomplish this task. PowerPoint has a notes section for each slide. Switch the View to Notes View to see the presentation with its associated notes.

To print the notes with your slides use File > Print and where it says "Print What?" choose Notes.

There is also a Notes Master that you can use to dress up the notes view and the notes handouts.
