  1. make a deal with them

Swap good grades or something for gettin a snake

  2. Many people don't like snakes because they have no real knowlege of how these creatures work. This is understandable in most cases. But they do have a bit of a rap sheet. Owners will buy snakes not fully knowing what they are getting themselves into. I personally had to wait until I moved out on my own. I am a true snake lover and have always desired to have them, but my partents wouldn't let me. Lol. Once I was on my own, I just started buying and buying, and now my living room is crammed with snakes of every shape, size and color.

The truth of the mater is, you have to show you dad how intent you are on having a snake. Even though they are caged animals, they are still a handful and the vet bills can get a bit pricy.

Another thing, teach you dad about the animal you want. The more you understand about something, the more appealing and beautiful it becomes. Sankes are very beautiful and entertaining creatures that provide companionship that rivals a dog's lifespan. There are many breeds of snakes to suit your lifestyle and preferences and so many beautiful colors to choose from.

I will not lie to you, sankes can be expensive pets! They need good and proper homes and a good supply of food. They do bite sometimes, and cleaning up after them can be messy.

But if you truly love and care for these animals as I do, it will all be worth it. You will enjoy every moment you spend with your snake (except when he is latched onto your finger), and you will never find a more suitable animal for the house.

  3. you got to show that your responsible enough to take care of your snake. do lot's of research on them. you could also thell him that you can give it mices that are frozen thaw.not live mices.

for a first snake i suggest you a corn snake , they are easy to care for and they almost never bite (mine is a baby and never bite me).they are curious and like to move.and they come in various colors.they become about 4ft to 6 ft and can live up to 20 years so they are lifetime pets.

there might be reasons that helps you convince your dad on that website:

  4. Show him you are trying to be responsible.  Be consistent in your chores.  Ask to help to do different things.  Don't nag about it.

    Good luck

  5. Hi Katie!

Well I was in your situation once too well more of a year ago!  It took me months to convince my parents to let me have a snake.

1st: You have to show them that you are responsible to take care of your room and yourself. Which means you don't need all of their help.

2nd: Do ALOT of research on the snake that you want. I recommend a ball python or a red tail boa. Though red tail boa do tend to get quite huge.

3rd: Explain to them everything, what the requirements are for the snake.

4th: Give them a few days to think about it and during that time, you still and always have to show responsibility of yourself.

5th: When your dad give you an answer, if its a yes then that's good but if it is a no then just give him a few more days to see that you can do this yourself.

Remember that this snake will be yours. Do your best to take care of it. Your parents will understand. Your dad is probably scared that it could kill you...you have to explain it to him nicely.

I just want you to know that taking care of a snake isn't all easy as some people think. They do have to be handle often and there are certain times you shouldn't handle a snake too. Plus they do rasie your bills because of heating. If it isn't around the right temp. then many things could happen to the snake. So please do all your research before getting a snake, for your sake, the snake's sake, and your parent's sakes too. I would recommend you to inform your dad about the bills too because if it goes up and you didn't' tell him...things aren't going to end so well.... trust me, I didn't tell my parents about how the bill is going to go up until I got yelled at and was told to give away my snake...but with much convincing again I got to keep him. =]

Research had change my dad's mind....my mom didn't care if I got the snakes. =] I hope I could help!

Just email me of you need anything!

  6. tell him that it will keep the mice away and that if you catch a mouse the snake will kill it.

  7. make a contract saying you will care for it it worked for my dad who is deathly afraid of snakes.. I mean he chopped up a soaker hose cause he thaught it was a snake and he might even let me get a 2nd snake.

On the contract put stuff like you will feed him, water him, clean his cage, give him a internet link to check out the world record of the snakes size if size is the problem.

    hope it works 4 you

  8. hello!

Show youre responsible by cleaning the house, offer to cook dinner, take care of siblings, etc.

I am in the same situation. Trying to convince my parents to let me have another rabbit.

    GOOD LUCK!
