I already know all about the breed and have the money to purchase it. Plus pay for everything it needs the first month [ Vet, food, toys etc]

[Me and my older brother have saved up $3,000 together to get this]

The dog itself costs sonmewhere around $150-$200 itself. Also it's absolutely beautiful lol. So any ways I can convince my mom??

this link is about convincing your parents to let you get a pet..

remember to consider the future - what happens when you move out?

always check local shelters first - NEVER buy from pet stores

  2. First of all, that dog is a cutie! Anyways, tell your mom you really want it and would take care of it without asking and if she says no then just walk away. Do some research, leave articles around and pictures, and also in conversations bring up facts you learned. Good luck, this dog is adorable!

Edit; Dogs live to 15 about, this dog is already 8.

  3. she's pretty

bob v, I would run away too if I was that dog (I mean no offense, but you sound rude) I got two older dogs and neither ran away...imagine that...I think it was just you

  4. What are your mom's objections?

  5. the first month whoopee what about the month after that? and the next month? and so on? If your mother ha already said no dog she means NO DOG. Secondly it doesn't matter if YOU have the money to pay for it. Your mother's signature will be the one on the paperwork.

  6. Before you get to the convincing part, you both need to sit down with your mother at a time when you can discuss this without any interruptions.

Explain all that you have planned and why you wish to adopt the dog.

Be willing to listen to the reasons your Mother has for NOT wanting a dog.

Sometimes, there are reasons why animals can't be added to the family besides just who might feed and care for it.

    A few examples:

Do you have a fenced yard with ample room for a separate dog run?

Will the dog be an inside or outside pet?

If outside, he will need a doghouse and a dog run so that the entire yard isn't littered with dog waste.

If inside, he will need to be trained to go out (and who will be the one to let the dog out while you are gone to school or other activities?)

You have indicated you saved the money towards this purchase yourself. While that is indeed commendable, if you have previously been told no, ask your Mom directly to explain why that won't make a differece.

Be willing to hear her answers and to take 'no' for an answer without pouting.

  7. Make a slideshow, elaborate but it works sometimes. I think its wonderful you want to adopt, and clearly your not in it for a puppy as this is an older dog which i think says something. Research the breed and present facts on it, i have known many of this breed and they are all wonderful dogs. take your mom to the shelter to visit her. best of luck!

  8. Although it's nice to want to adopt, consider your mom's perspective.  You sound like you're still in school.  If you go to college or move out you might not be able to take the dog.  Perhaps she doesn't want to be stuck with it.  I don't want to sound critical, but dogs are a huge responsibility and should be left to those with a stable living arrangement and income.  After the first month, then what?

  9. Your mom may be afraid that you will tire of giving the dog her food and water and playing with her and that those chores will fall to her instead. Maybe if you and your brother agreed to lose some kind of privileges if you didn't keep up your end of the bargain, that would convince her of how committed you both are to caring for the dog.

Also, since you've saved so much money for the dog and future vet costs, maybe it would help to set up a special bank account for the dog's expenses with that money. If your mom knows that the funds will be there for future vet bills, that could make her feel more comfortable with the idea.

    Good luck. It's a beautiful dog!! : )

  10. so like to me your mom don't think you can handle the responsability. everytime my kids ask me for a pet. i was the one that ended up taking care of it. show your mom that you can handle the responsability and she might let you have it then

  11. buying the dog is the easiest part of getting a dog.

the best way to get  a certain dog. and ill tell you and your mom will flip head over heels.

ok. are you ready. you and your brother have 3000. thats 1500. each. now i dont have a clue how old you  are. but thats a nice investment on college. and get this your mom is  even going to like me more., you tell her. hey mom can i have a pup. > when i get  my own place.? < and i bet she will say. what did you say. and your going to repete it. when you get your own place.. she should say yes..

another thing . an older dog. isnt the thing to get i got an older dog one time. and it ran away many times. you have to get  a pup. and no more then 8 weeks old. no younger either.

just wait and save your money...
