He's my "Surrogate" bro but we treat each other like siblings...He's stayed beside me no matter what & I love him BUT He hates black people!!!

It always hurts to hear him down black people just because their skin color is different than his....He's even called a friend of mine a N----r ***** behind her back!!

He doesn't take criticism well, So....How can I show him racism is wrong without hurting him?? I love him very much, That's why I hate to see him like that.....

  1. Buy sun screen for his neck, make him watch American History X.

  2. Live and let live.  To each his own.  The beauty of life sometimes is that we are all different.  I would really only be concerned if his actions became criminal.  Lead your life the way you want and influence other people through noble actions.  I agree racism sucks but it exists and there are ways for him to learn but he may have to learn at his own pace.  Best of luck to him for this world is filled with so many great cultures and differences and he may never get to experience some of the things that he doesn't understand.  Hopefully some positive action will help reverse his thinking.

    Word!

  3. Sit him for a debate with me. I've turned around racists in the past.

  4. Tough love time.  Next time he says something like that, end the conversation and leave.  When he asks why, tell him he's entitled to his opinions but you don't need to be subjected to it.  Then stop hanging out with him.  If you are important to him, he'll learn to at least keep his comments to himself around you out of respect.  I'm sorry but you probably won't be able to change his thinking, but you can let him know not to talk his racist trash around you.

I know you care about him but it would turn my stomach to hang around anyone with screwed up views like that, even if they were related to me.

And if you are worried about upsetting him, think of your friend that he called names.  She is the one you should be standing up for.

  5. funny...my brother is the same way. tell him how it hurts you when he does that, for whatever reason he does. his actions are ignorant. know that you can't win an argument of reason with ignorance . tell him how you love him and that if he really cares about you, he would refrain from "stating his opinion" on such subjects when you are around.

  6. Confront him. Tell him you judge a person by who they are, not what race they are, and some people who you care about are black and you wouldn' put up with anyone insulting him so you won't put up with him insulting them.

  7. Bottom line is that you can't. Being a racist is a part of who he is and the only person who can change these feelings is him. IF he really wants to which he probably doesn't. As long as you're a decent person, don't worry about him. I know it must be frustrating to have someone like this in your life, but all you can do is hope that he sees the light one day and realize that being racist limits him and that his life could be so much happier if he saw people as people and not as a color.

Also out of respect for your friends, you shouldn't bring them around him. That would threaten your relationship with them and they will believe you actively put up with his attitude, even if you really hate it.

  8. Ask him why he's so racist towards Black people. Ask him what they have done to him to make them so undeserving of his respect.  I'm sure you'll find that he drinks about 50 beers a day, can't ever stand being wrong, and finds that by insulting black people, it helps him to raise himself up.

P.S. I'm going to forget about mentioning the fact that he was probably raised in a trailer, because not all people who are raised in trailers turn out to be trashy.  Some actually end up being very successful and very cool in the world.  I know somebody who was raised in a trailer, and she ended up going off to a great college and becoming a great business woman.  Trailers have nothing to do with people... So, I'm not going to mention that he is probably living in a trailer, because of the above-mentioned.
