I get B+/A-s in music with an effort of one. I only got 2 Cs in other classes but with much higher effort grades. I'm not dumb. I also play bass and drums. A much stupider kid than me gets worse grades and longer music lessons than me. It really pisses me off. I try hard, I have dyspraxia so it's hard to concerntrate, but still. I try my hardest. So why! How can i convince him?

PS: He is LOADED with money, so no answers resulting in that.

  1. How about giving a reason why you deserve it.  Whether he has the money or not, you aren't entitled to HIS money.  You already play bass and drums.  If you play bass, you can self teach yourself guitar.  It's not easy, but it can be done.  And if he is already paying for bass or drum lessons, don't ask for guitar lessons as well, but maybe instead of one of them.

How about talking to him about a trade.  Increase your household duties, such as extra nights doing dishes or vacumming the house and such in exchange for the lessons.  Also, agree to maintain certain grades.  While classes may be harder, C grades should not be satisfactory.

And don't compare what you have to what another (stupider) kid gets.  Be grateful your parents are teaching you to work for what you have, not expect it to be handed to you.  Maybe it's just the way you said things, but you sound like an ungrateful brat.  Try showing some appreciation and see where that gets you in life.

  2. looks like he got you a bass and drums.  The bass' four strings are the exact same strings as a guitars lower four just an octave lower.  Try practicing on your bass and get really good at at and it will help you move on to guitar.  Could it be that you have lost interest in so many other things that your dad doesn't want to waste money on someting else you'll ditch?  And if i was your father, in reference to your grammar and profane speech, I wouldnt want to buy you anything either.  Maybe when you get a job you can afford to buy yourself a guitar and lessons.  And with grades, in the real world, you don't get effort points, so no excuses.  You are coming off sounding like your father owes you something.  if your father read your post, you'd owe him an apology.

  3. save your allowance and ask dad if there is any chores around the house you can do to make money for lessons. Your Father is setting an example for you that things are not handed to you but, earned in life. Good man.

  4. get a book, teach your self. my mom let us have lessons for a couple weeks. i just recently quit. all they do is read what the page says then tells you to play it. once you get the basics down, try to play by ear, make up your own music! trust me its A LOT better
