I am 19 and I can make my own decisions now. I have been to Amsterdam by myself about two or three times. I want to do something by myself because other times it's been family related stuff, but I want to go and do my own things.

So how can I convince my mom to allow me to do this.

Or should I just leave and phone her when I get there and tell her I'm in Amsterdam.

  1. I love how many 19 year olds think they are adults, Lets see

    are you

    1. Gainfully employed with no support from the parents?

    2. Living on your own?

if you answer yes to the two things then go on your own, if not then guess what you are not an adult, the fact that you have to ask this shows you are not an adult and still subject to your parents pocket book and thus their wishes.

  2. well you are an adult she really cannot stop you, just tell her you are going.

  3. It's definitely not somewhere I'd go alone and I've been there as well as many other places, so I can talk. First try finding someone to go with you (a friend or family member who will wanna do the things there are to do in Amsterdam - whatever that might mean for you), if you can't then tell her you really wanna go to the Van Gogh museum or a show and you don't wanna drag people around or have people hold you back, etc.

Does it really matter what we say? If you really wanna go that badly and you do end up there alone, just don't be stupid...be careful. You may wanna tell her only when you get back...

  4. don't do the 2nd thing. seriously.

visit family but go places by urself(shopping,...)

get a friend 2 go with u - u can hang out with them @ the mall or somethin
