My moms always been TOO overprotective of my hair. A few years ago she refused to even let me cut it because SHE liked it long ; i didn't.

So anyways about a year ago, i convinced her to let me highlight it. I was surprised she said yes! But now, I'm getting tired of the highlights and want to to with a really light brown, (which is very close to my natural hair color) just to get all of the highlights out and have my hair one color.

We bought the dye and she saw when we got home and she started yelling at me telling me I'm not gonna dye my hair at 14. I'll be 15 next month. I told her its fine I'll only do it once because when the roots grow out they'll be the same exact color as the dye.

But she thinks its gonna ruin my hair blah blah but I happen to know many people who have dyed their hair many times and they're hair is beautiful.

So I still really wanna dye it. what can I say to make her agree?

  1. Just tell her that it is your hair.  Go about it like an adult.  Explain to her why.

Like, for axample, sit down with her at the table and discuss it.  Maybe print out an article.  When she finally says yes, do it that night.

My mom is the same when it comes to hair.  She wouldnt let me get highlights.  I sat her down and basically begged.  Eventually she caved because i was persistant.  But sadly, since i didnt jump on that chance she changed her mind in two days.

So, be patient and never yell or fight with her.  Just be polite and persistant.

    Good Luck!

    I hope i helped

    =)

  2. why don't you ask her to help you?  Explain to her that this is very important to you, and this is something you would like to do for yourself...also, ask if she would like to share the experience with you, and kind of make it into a "girls sleepover" kind of thing...you could paint your nails and put makeup on each other while the dye is on your hair...you can also ask your dad to jump on board with the idea as well...maybe a little coaxing from him might do the trick.  In the long run, you will appreciate being able to spend some time alone with your mom...you are her little girl, after all...Good luck, and God Bless

  3. Explain to her that you will take care of it. Moms are liked that. Be glad your hair is blond && curly. As long as you keep your hair overly conditioned then your hair should be fine!
