How can I convince my parents to buy TiVo?

Tivo is an enormous waste of money, Tivo is a DVR with a built in tuner it costs the same as any other DVR (actually usually a little more) the only difference with Tivo and other DVRs is that TIVO MAKES YOU PAY MONTHLY TO USE IT.  Phillips makes a standalone unit for cheaper that does everything Tivo does AND it burns DVDs.

Hhhmmmm, try telling them about all the advantages. I've had mine for something like 2 years and my life before it is a total blur. You save money 2 because you don't have to buy tapes for taping stuff. And when you get high definition, and you tivo stuff, you can watch a show on a differant chanel as it's tivoing. It ROCKS!

Try this, find a show your parents really like (at least one of them), and plan a time outside of the house, when you get back say "oops, you missed your favorite show, too bad, but that wouldn't happen if we had a TiVo, well, more reason to get one", and keep on doing that until they eventually go "I don't want to miss my favorite show again, we're getting a TiVo", then you got them a TiVo without even asking

If that dosen't work, try getting one yourself, when they see you struggling to get it and pay for TiVo DVR service, eventually they should start thinking about it and pay for it themselves

well i have dvr and its awesome cuz if i know im going to miss a show i can just record it and watch it later. and u can skip through all the commercials too.

well make sure your mom or dad misses one of the shows the really like to watch and when complain or something tell them see you should of had tivo!

Tell them you can do homework instead of watching and watch your show with your free time.
