I am 15 years old. I want to get a motor scooter that is 50cc, something like a YAMAHA BWS or Aprilia SR50, but I'm looking towards something that I can afford on myself. I can find a decent Yamaha for under 2 000$. I worked two straight summers, spending most of my savings the first time around buy this time I was smart. I worked a lot, and I feel that I deserve do be redeemed, but I will pay for everything as I EARNED my money. Soaccordingg to you, how can I convince my parents to allow me to buy a scooter?

  1. Here is  my answers.

    1. Find someone your age who rides a Scooter and both of you have a chat with your folks.

    2. Tell your folks that you will take a Safety Class before get one.

    3. Contact a scooter shop about getting safety brochures to give to you folks.

    4. Or tell your parents;" Either the scooter or I'll waste my hard-earned money on girls and (root) beer(LOL)".

  2. You have to be 16 I think and for that money you can get a really good 50cc. Kymco Agility 50. Best on the market. Kymco is rated superior in the world for scooters.

  3. Start by getting them to let you take a motorcycle or scooter safety training class. You best bet is convince them that you are mature enough and will ride safely. Here is link for training in Canada. http://www.ridertraining.org/about.shtml

  4. Don't you have to be 16 in order to ride those on the street?  You do here in Virginia.

  5. tell them its not as dangerous as a motor cycle or a dirt bike and tell them 50cc barely enough to make it to 40mph. And tell the its better the driving you around in a gas guzzling car.

  6. If they drive you around a lot, calculate how much they will save in gas by saving trips.  They might be impressed that you are using a mathematical argument to make your point.  Also, maybe find reviews or encourage them to ride one.  Maybe they don't know that the top speed on those is only about 40, and it doesn't accelerate fast enough to overwhelm you.  At the same time, you should be careful and respect any machine, even if it is a weed eater engine mounted to your bicycle.  I did that, and it is a kick.  I got the parts from staton-inc.com.  Best of all, it's not a scooter.  Scooters are like fat chicks.  They might be fun to ride, but don't let your friends see you on one.

  7. tell them it gets really good gas mileage, get a dirtbike or quad if they'd let you. 50cc scooter is going to be pretty gutless.
