One reason they won't let me is that they've fallen on hard times and have to pay BIG bills($22,000).Another is I've had 2 birds and couldn't take care of them , so I had to give them away. But it's different now.3 years passed. And I REALLY REALLY want a kitten. Please help!

  1. You should not have a kitten unless you are going to pay for:

    - Veterinary Bills: you need:a first set of 3 or 4 vaccinations at the rate of 30 to 50 pounds each, after that a yearly booster which is no less than 50 pounds. Feline Leukaemia Testing previous first vaccination: 50 pounds. De-worming every 3 months, and flea treatments, about 60 pounds a year (at least). Neutering at 6 months of age: 100 to 200 pounds (depending on s*x). Any vet consult when kitty gets sick, (he will!)... from 50 pounds to a few hundreds or even thousand, depending on having pet insurance or not.

    - Suitable cat diet, 40 a month.

    - Bedding, cat litter, cat toys... 10/ 20 a month

Plus any extras: cattery for holidays?....

All these, and of course, daily TLC and lots of cleaning for the next 15 years.

  2. You should not invest in a kitten if you are not financially stable; cats live for at least 15 years at a cost of ~50-100 dollars a month, so the kitten is a long term investment and expense for you and your family. If you want to spend time with animals such as kittens, then a better option would be for you to volunteer at a local shelter. This way you can care for cats without having to burden your family with the extra expense.

    P.S.

For future reference you should never disclose financial information on an open forum; most people (probably including your parents) prefer this type of information not to be in the public domain.

  3. Get a Nintendo, grow up a little... get a cat when you can be responsible.

    and Rock On!

  4. You can promise you will take care of the little one.

    [=

Ps. i have heard that it is easier to potty train a boy than it is a girl. anyway it's that way in dogs. [=

  5. Show them how responsible you are and maybe get a part time job to help with taking care of this kitten.

  6. wait till you are financially stable before getting a kitten.  instead why don't you go volunteer at an animal shelter.
