My parents are soo safety caucious, they let me go to the movies by myself though, but they don't let me go to the shops with my friends, the show etc etc. I'm getting so sick of it they won't even let me have myspace! How can I show them that they can trust me? I don't get in trouble, get good grades, don't really argue that much. They usually say that "They trust me but don't trust other people" I feel like they should let me grow up!!! Help what should I do to let them let me do stuff!!! Thanks for all answers 10 points! :D

  1. my parents used to be like that too. right now i'm 13 and i'm about to turn 14 soon. my mom lets me go to the movies, but not shop too. i say that parents need to learn how to let go. what happens when your getting married and you move out? your parents can't hold on to you forever.

besides, what they are doing to you is because they love you and want to protect you.

  2. man that sux real bad

i donno if u would say this but ......... when mum and dad say i cant do something i just say well fine ill just do it behind you back and you have to worry about not knowing what im doing

    hahah lol

just tell them how yu feel make up something like u feel insecure and like your friends are moving away from you becoz they can neva do anything with you and than the should feel sorry for you and let you do it

or leave this up on the cdomuter so they see it and they see your upset and that you have been thinking bout it:)

  3. Your parents are not too safety conscious. If they were, they would never let you leave the house.

You are just 15...that is very young! I know you want your independence but things could be worse. Much worse.

Just do as you have been doing. Appreciate the freedoms they give you and learn to live and enjoy yourself and learn as much as you can. Before you know it, you will be moving out to go to university.

I know it's hard to understand...when you're a parent, you worry so much...and for good reason too. Just be glad that your parents love you and care enough about you to take care of you.

  4. I thought the same way when i was your age. You should go up to your parents, since unlike me, u still have them, and thank them. For being responsible, caring, and awesome parents..

  5. Your parents are right to be wary. They are worried about your safety. The fact that you are on answers.com, says alot to me, b/c I would not let my daughter on this website at 15. People talk about all kinds of crazy stuff here. So they must trust you to some extent.

But anyhow...If you are a good kid, try talking to your parents about one thing that you really want to do differently. Like go to the shops with your friends. Reasonably, as long as we are talking about an enclosed mall, you should be fine. Just remember to check in with them and keep your promises. As you are allowed to do more and more if you stay honest and check in on time, you should be trusted to do more. (WITH IN REASON)  Just remember, your parents love you and they just want you to be safe. Not everyone can be trusted and its hard to tell those people apart.

But trust me, and I can't say it enough..the second you start lying about things, your life will turn to h**l. So be honest! And as it should, you will progress into more and more "rights".
