Question:

How can I convince my parents to homeschool me?

My parents are divorced and my dad lives miles away. I live with my mom. She works 4 hours a day at least 5 days a week. I am depressed and insecure. I am supposed to be a junior when fall starts back but I'm in summer school for failing algebra. If I don't pass, I have to be a sophmore again. I've told them that if I don't pass I want to be homeschooled because of the reasons above. Can anyone give me some advice please? I'm desperate and unhappy with school.

*Plus, they think only weird kids are homeschooled which is completely untrue. A lot of popular girls I know are know homeschooled because of drama.

  1. Well, the obvious way to go'd be to introduce your mum to some of those popular, homeschooled kids you already know. That way, she'll be able to see for herself that it isn't just the weird kids who're homeschooled and probably be heaps more reassured than you simply telling her for the umpteenth time that she's misinformed!

You could also introduce her to some of their parents so she can talk 'homeschooling' with other parents who're already doing it.

  2. Look into Distant learning it requires less from the parents and requires you to work on your own more.

    Check out Laurel Springs.

  3. Try ALEKs math this summer. There is a link to a one month free trial-it's like having a tutor online. I think it will help you pass math. Homeschool if you want-we do-but make sure you really want to do it.
