How can I convince my parents to let me get a cat?

For a couple years now, I've been talking to my Mom about letting me get a cat. I've provided her with everything there is to know about them. All the pros and cons, all about different breeds, and how to take care of them. I think my Mom is on my side with this, but my dad needs convincing. Does anyone have any ideas for how I can convince my Dad?

Sit down with both your parents and explain to them that this will be YOUR cat and YOU will be taking care of it. That means buying it food, litter, getting it fixed, and also getting it shots. You will also be the one feeding it and giving it water and cleaning out the litter box.

If you can not do these things then ask them to do extra chores around the house to cover the cost and it will show them that you are responsible enough to have a cat.

If your father is a person that does not like cats then just explain to him that you do, and that the cat will not be making messes anywhere because you are going to take good care of it.

Show him how responsible u are and take him to an adoption place to let him know how fun and interesting a cat can be. I have two and i always play with them and they sleep on my bed with my and mine is very cuddly.

Talk to your mum about persuading your dad into letting you get one, and tell your dad that your mature enough now to care for one and that if you got one from a cat center then he'd be helping other animals too (:

Talk to your parents and make a plan. show them in a 3 month period how responsible you are and the the should be convinced!

My mom decided to finally get a cat for my birthday, but my dad would have never said yes so my mom went out and bought stuff and arranged to pick the cat up from her co-worker. We hid everything in my bedroom closet until the cat arrived on a monday night, then when my dad came home from night shift that night at midnight he found a kitten! My dad actually thought it was funny, and he still loves our cat.

Make sure your parents know you're willing to take responsibility, and you'll let them help you choose the right cat for your household. Try to get a sweet shorthair kitten :)

The best way to convince your parents is ask them to take you to a pet store and ask an employee if you can play with a cat. I did this many times just to play with cats at the petstore, but when you're parents see how the kitten rubs against your legs or chews on your shoelaces, they will usually be so cute you fall in love.

LOLz, that's almost what happened with me. Except that I didn't really provide my mom with information. I was joking around with my boyfriend on the phone that I had a kitten at his house. And my mom believed me =\ so than I sort of just pushed it slowly that way. And than I ended up buying one for real, keeping it at my boyfriends house for two nights. And than ended up keeping her at my house after a vet appointment one day
