Question:

How can I convince my parents to let me get a pet?

I asked them , but they think that pets smell, and it's annoying because I'd really like the chance to have a pet as a companion.

I know that I should try to give them facts but that's not enough to convince them, neither is telling them I'm responsible

  1. ahh im in the same situatonn

    ive tried EVERYTHING

and im going to try taking care of of my cat (cause they usually do) to try to prove to them im resposable enough

but even though i do that they still have an exucse how they dont want any more animals in the house!! :(

  2. what kind of pet do you want to get? That will help people give you advice.

  3. Telling them isn't enough, you need to prove to them you are responsible enough to have a pet. You can do this by doing simple things, like never lying to them, keeping your room tidy etc. will give off the impression you can handle a pet.

  4. Every time I get another pet, my mom says "That's it, this is the last one. No more after this."

    think again mommy-o

right now we have a dog, a fish, two birds, a rabbit and I'm working on my mom to get another rabbit for my darling :)

haha, anyways here's what I do

-Tell your parents in a mature way that you want a _______. tell them you are prepared to take care of it and if you don't then they can get rid of it.

-Do research on the pet while you are in view of them (like on a computer or something) Tell them facts about the pet and the pros of having that pet. Show them that you're serious about getting this animal

-Print out a page or two about the pet and give it to them.

-Ask them if you can get one from a shelter, then you will be saving a life :)

-Also it's usually easier to convince one parent first (like your mom, if she's the easier on) then she will side with you and it will be easier to get the other parent into the idea!

    ---------

You could also volunteer to 'foster' animals at your local shelter. thats where you take the animal home for a while. Or maybe offer to babysit a pet while one of your friends is away. Once your parent see what a joy it is to have an animal, they wont be able to resist :)

    Good Luck!

  5. Hold them at gunpoint. That usually works.

  6. Actually, a lot of toy breeds of dogs don't have that "wet dog" smell at all, including chihuahuas, Pomeranian, the Shih Tzu, etc. The low cost parakeet's,(Budgies) p**p doesn't smell at all! Once, I didn't clean my birds cage for 3 months, and no smell!

Don't torture your parents, and instead, step up gradually. Clean up your rooms, do all your chores, offer to wash the dishes, etc.

  7. i really want a pet as well. I guess u should promise them something

  8. I really wanted a dog, and everyday I begged my parents to let me have one, I finally annoyed them enough, and they got me a precious little bichon frise, he doesn't shed, and he is odorless, I love him to death.

  9. well miniature poodles don't smell or shed. anyone with pet allergies won't have to worry because they don't have animal dander or shed like bigger dogs. if they think they smell because they pee and c**p all over the carpet then you can get a trained dog instead of a puppy(but i'd go for the puppy cuz they are absolutely irresistable)

  10. Tell them all the +++++ of having a pet. That's what worked to me
